Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written:‘ He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

Long ago our people ate the manna in the desert. It is written in Scripture,‘ The Lord gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ”( Exodus 16:4; Nehemiah 9:15; Psalm 78:24, 25)

耶和華諭摩西曰、我必自天雨糧、民宜日出、斂日所需、以試其遵我法律否、至於六日、所斂者必備之、其數倍於他日、摩西亞倫語以色列人曰、至夕必知導爾出埃及者、乃耶和華、詰朝爾將睹耶和華之榮光、蓋爾出怨言、耶和華聞之矣、我何人斯、爾乃怨我、摩西又曰、迨耶和華夕食爾以肉、朝飽爾以糧、此言始應、蓋爾之怨言、耶和華聞之矣、我何人斯、爾非怨我、乃怨耶和華也、摩西謂亞倫曰、告以色列會眾雲、進於耶和華前、蓋爾之怨言、彼已聞之、亞倫言時、以色列會眾瞻望於野、見耶和華之榮光顯於雲中、耶和華諭摩西曰、以色列族之怨言、我已聞之、當告之曰、夕必食肉、朝必飽糧、則知我乃爾之上帝耶和華、○夕有鶉來、蔽乎營壘、朝有露降、在營四周、厥露既晞、野有圓物、細微如霜、以色列民見而弗識、相語曰、此何物耶、摩西曰、此耶和華食爾之糧、

此乃自天而降之餅、非如列祖食瑪那而死、食此餅者、必永生也、

彼卑抑爾、任爾饑餓、食以瑪那、爾與爾祖所未識者、俾知人之生、不第恃食、惟恃耶和華口所出之言、

今我精神消減、瑪那而外、別無所見、夫瑪那狀如芫荽之實、色如珍珠、民眾四出、各相斂取、或磨以磨、或搗以臼、或煑於鼎、或以作餅、味若和油之食、夜間露降於營、瑪那隨之而下、

以色列人食瑪那、歷四十年、迨至迦南境、人居之處而後已、

錫爾聖善之靈、以訓迪之、使瑪那不缺於其口、賜水以解其渴、
