The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you— they are full of the Spirit and life.

The Holy Spirit gives life. The body means nothing at all. The words I have spoken to you are full of the Spirit. They give life.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

我未嘗由己而言、乃遣我之父、以所當言、所當語者、命我也、我知其命乃永生、故我所言、乃依父語我者言之耳、

且循己旨、以真道生我儕、俾於其所造者、猶初實之果焉、○

因致生聖神之律、由基督耶穌、釋我於罪及死之律、

是以我謝上帝不輟、因爾由我受上帝道而納之、非如人道、乃上帝道、是誠上帝道、力行於爾信者之中也、

耶和華上帝摶土為人、噓生氣於其鼻、乃成生靈、

蓋基督亦一次為罪受苦、義者代不義者、以導我儕歸上帝、其身雖受死、其靈則見甦、

今之洗禮、乃其影像、以救爾曹、非去形軀之污、惟求無虧之良於上帝前、乃因耶穌基督之復起也、

蓋練乎身者其益小、惟敬虔則萬事皆益、而有今生來生之許、

凡食主餅、飲主杯、而不合宜者、即干主身與血也、人當自省、然後食斯餅、飲斯杯、不辨主身而飲食者、則以飲食干鞫也、

勿為異端諸教所蕩、蓋心堅以恩乃善、非以食耳、行乎此者未獲益也、

然則猶太人何所長、割禮何所益乎、曰、凡事多益、首則上帝之詔託之、

於基督耶穌中、或割或否、皆無益、惟信之以愛而行者有益、

蓋受割與否皆無足重、惟新造者而已、

如經云、目未見、耳未聞、亦未入人之心者、即上帝為愛之者所備也、惟上帝以聖神示我儕、蓋聖神窮萬有、以及乎上帝之深邃、夫人之情、非在其內之靈、誰知之乎、如是、上帝之情、非上帝之神亦無知之者、我儕所受、非斯世之靈、乃上帝之神、俾我知上帝所樂賜我者、我儕言之、非以人智所訓、乃聖神所訓、以靈言互參靈事也、夫屬血氣者、不納上帝聖神之事、以之為愚、且不能識、以其事乃由心靈而擬也、

爾若行律、則割禮有益、若干律、則割如未割、
