Don’t all of us have one Father? Didn’t one God create us? Why then do we act treacherously against one another, profaning the covenant of our ancestors?

先知向民曰、我儕豈非皆一父所生、一天主所造乎、豈可彼此相欺、背棄背棄原文作褻瀆我列祖之約乎、

Do we not all have one Father? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our ancestors by being unfaithful to one another?

People of Judah, all of us have one Father. One God created us. So why do we break the covenant the Lord made with our people of long ago? We do this by being unfaithful to one another.

Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why then are we faithless to one another, profaning the covenant of our fathers?

Are we not all children of the same Father? Are we not all created by the same God? Then why do we betray each other, violating the covenant of our ancestors?

Do we not all have one Father? Is it not one God who has created us? Why do we deal treacherously, each against his brother so as to profane the covenant of our fathers?

Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously with one another By profaning the covenant of the fathers?

Acknowledge that the LORD is God. He made us, and we are his— his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Judah has acted treacherously, and a detestable act has been done in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah has profaned the LORD’s sanctuary, which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.

yet for us there is one God, the Father. All things are from him, and we exist for him. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ. All things are through him, and we exist through him.

one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.

Yet you are our Father, even though Abraham does not know us and Israel doesn’t recognize us. You, LORD, are our Father; your name is Our Redeemer from Ancient Times.

You’re doing what your father does.”“ We weren’t born of sexual immorality,” they said.“ We have one Father— God.”

Yet LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we all are the work of your hands.

Everyone has to be on guard against his friend. Don’t trust any brother, for every brother will certainly deceive, and every friend spread slander.Each one betrays his friend; no one tells the truth. They have taught their tongues to speak lies; they wear themselves out doing wrong.

Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.”

This means one must not transgress against and take advantage of a brother or sister in this manner, because the Lord is an avenger of all these offenses, as we also previously told and warned you.

“ Our father is Abraham,” they replied.“ If you were Abraham’s children,” Jesus told them,“ you would do what Abraham did.

And not only that, but Rebekah conceived children through one man, our father Isaac.

“ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is your fear of me? says the LORD of Armies to you priests, who despise my name.” Yet you ask,“ How have we despised your name?”

Are you greater than our father Abraham who died? And the prophets died. Who do you claim to be?”

“ Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.

Remember them, my God, for defiling the priesthood as well as the covenant of the priesthood and the Levites.

And don’t presume to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.

Now this is what the LORD says— the one who created you, Jacob, and the one who formed you, Israel—“ Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine.

And the LORD responded,“ Look, I am making a covenant. In the presence of all your people I will perform wonders that have never been done in the whole earth or in any nation. All the people you live among will see the LORD’s work, for what I am doing with you is awe-inspiring.Observe what I command you today. I am going to drive out before you the Amorites, Canaanites, Hethites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.Be careful not to make a treaty with the inhabitants of the land that you are going to enter; otherwise, they will become a snare among you.Instead, you must tear down their altars, smash their sacred pillars, and chop down their Asherah poles.Because the LORD is jealous for his reputation, you are never to bow down to another god. He is a jealous God.“ Do not make a treaty with the inhabitants of the land, or else when they prostitute themselves with their gods and sacrifice to their gods, they will invite you, and you will eat their sacrifices.Then you will take some of their daughters as brides for your sons. Their daughters will prostitute themselves with their gods and cause your sons to prostitute themselves with their gods.

So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we know that you are truthful and teach truthfully the way of God. You don’t care what anyone thinks nor do you show partiality.

But I took your father Abraham from the region beyond the Euphrates River, led him throughout the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants. I gave him Isaac,

“ You, on the other hand, have turned from the way. You have caused many to stumble by your instruction. You have violated the covenant of Levi,” says the LORD of Armies.

This is the word of the LORD your Maker, the one who formed you from the womb: He will help you. Do not fear, Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen.

The next day he showed up while they were fighting and tried to reconcile them peacefully, saying,‘ Men, you are brothers. Why are you mistreating each other?’

Did not the one who made me in the womb also make them? Did not the same God form us both in the womb?

Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who gave birth to you. When I called him, he was only one; I blessed him and made him many.

you gave through your servants the prophets, saying,“ The land you are entering to possess is an impure land. The surrounding peoples have filled it from end to end with their uncleanness by their impurity and detestable practices.So do not give your daughters to their sons in marriage or take their daughters for your sons. Never pursue their welfare or prosperity, so that you will be strong, eat the good things of the land, and leave it as an inheritance to your sons forever.”After all that has happened to us because of our evil deeds and terrible guilt— though you, our God, have punished us less than our iniquities deserve and have allowed us to survive—should we break your commands again and intermarry with the peoples who commit these detestable practices? Wouldn’t you become so angry with us that you would destroy us, leaving neither remnant nor survivor?

Furthermore, we had human fathers discipline us, and we respected them. Shouldn’t we submit even more to the Father of spirits and live?

What then will we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found?

Now if you will carefully listen to me and keep my covenant, you will be my own possession out of all the peoples, although the whole earth is mine,

If you ever turn away and become loyal to the rest of these nations remaining among you, and if you intermarry or associate with them and they with you,know for certain that the LORD your God will not continue to drive these nations out before you. They will become a snare and a trap for you, a sharp stick for your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you disappear from this good land the LORD your God has given you.“ I am now going the way of the whole earth, and you know with all your heart and all your soul that none of the good promises the LORD your God made to you has failed. Everything was fulfilled for you; not one promise has failed.Since every good thing the LORD your God promised you has come about, so he will bring on you every bad thing until he has annihilated you from this good land the LORD your God has given you.If you break the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and bow in worship to them, the LORD’s anger will burn against you, and you will quickly disappear from this good land he has given you.”

Instead, brother goes to court against brother, and that before unbelievers!As it is, to have legal disputes against one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?Instead, you yourselves do wrong and cheat— and you do this to brothers and sisters!

Then Shecaniah son of Jehiel, an Elamite, responded to Ezra,“ We have been unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women from the surrounding peoples, but there is still hope for Israel in spite of this.Therefore, let’s make a covenant before our God to send away all the foreign wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the command of our God. Let it be done according to the law.

“ Son of man, those who live in the ruins in the land of Israel are saying,‘ Abraham was only one person, yet he received possession of the land. But we are many; surely the land has been given to us as a possession.’

Faithful people have vanished from the land; there is no one upright among the people. All of them wait in ambush to shed blood; they hunt each other with a net.Both hands are good at accomplishing evil: the official and the judge demand a bribe; when the powerful man communicates his evil desire, they plot it together.The best of them is like a brier; the most upright is worse than a hedge of thorns. The day of your watchmen, the day of your punishment, is coming; at this time their panic is here.Do not rely on a friend; don’t trust in a close companion. Seal your mouth from the woman who lies in your arms.Surely a son considers his father a fool, a daughter opposes her mother, and a daughter-in-law is against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own household.

I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.

Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance. And don’t start saying to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.

And you ask,“ Why?” Because even though the LORD has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, you have acted treacherously against her. She was your marriage partner and your wife by covenant.Didn’t God make them one and give them a portion of spirit? What is the one seeking? Godly offspring. So watch yourselves carefully, so that no one acts treacherously against the wife of his youth.

“ Brothers and fathers,” he replied,“ listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he settled in Haran,

everyone who bears my name and is created for my glory. I have formed them; indeed, I have made them.”

Therefore, putting away lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another.

Neither is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives everyone life and breath and all things.
