But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them,“ Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.

For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”

Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them.Then he said,“ I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.“ And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me.

This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away— all who have been called by the Lord our God.”

One day not long after this, word came to Joseph,“ Your father is failing rapidly.” So Joseph went to visit his father, and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

When the child was weaned, Hannah took him to the Tabernacle in Shiloh. They brought along a three year old bull for the sacrifice and a basket of flour and some wine.

But Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things.“ Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said.“ This will never happen to you!”

John said to Jesus,“ Master, we saw someone using your name to cast out demons, but we told him to stop because he isn’t in our group.”But Jesus said,“ Don’t stop him! Anyone who is not against you is for you.”

“ Be quiet!” the crowd yelled at them. But they only shouted louder,“ Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants.

When James and John saw this, they said to Jesus,“ Lord, should we call down fire from heaven to burn them up?”But Jesus turned and rebuked them.

“ Yes,” Joseph told him,“ these are the sons God has given me here in Egypt.” And Jacob said,“ Bring them closer to me, so I can bless them.”Jacob was half blind because of his age and could hardly see. So Joseph brought the boys close to him, and Jacob kissed and embraced them.Then Jacob said to Joseph,“ I never thought I would see your face again, but now God has let me see your children, too!”Joseph moved the boys, who were at their grandfather’s knees, and he bowed with his face to the ground.Then he positioned the boys in front of Jacob. With his right hand he directed Ephraim toward Jacob’s left hand, and with his left hand he put Manasseh at Jacob’s right hand.But Jacob crossed his arms as he reached out to lay his hands on the boys’ heads. He put his right hand on the head of Ephraim, though he was the younger boy, and his left hand on the head of Manasseh, though he was the firstborn.Then he blessed Joseph and said,“ May the God before whom my grandfather Abraham and my father, Isaac, walked— the God who has been my shepherd all my life, to this very day,the Angel who has redeemed me from all harm— may he bless these boys. May they preserve my name and the names of Abraham and Isaac. And may their descendants multiply greatly throughout the earth.”But Joseph was upset when he saw that his father placed his right hand on Ephraim’s head. So Joseph lifted it to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.“ No, my father,” he said.“ This one is the firstborn. Put your right hand on his head.”But his father refused.“ I know, my son; I know,” he replied.“ Manasseh will also become a great people, but his younger brother will become even greater. And his descendants will become a multitude of nations.”So Jacob blessed the boys that day with this blessing:“ The people of Israel will use your names when they give a blessing. They will say,‘ May God make you as prosperous as Ephraim and Manasseh.’” In this way, Jacob put Ephraim ahead of Manasseh.

For the believing wife brings holiness to her marriage, and the believing husband brings holiness to his marriage. Otherwise, your children would not be holy, but now they are holy.
