But about Israel he says,“ All day long I held out my hands to this disobedient and stubborn people!”

惟指以色列民、則曰、我終日舉手、招悖逆有違言之民矣、

其言以色列人曰、我終日舉手、勸不信非我之民矣、

其言言或作語以色列、則曰、我終日伸手、招不信服而違逆之民、

而於義塞人則曰：『我終日舉手以招斯民、而斯民頑強、不肯回頭。』

But concerning Israel he says,“ All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

But Isaiah also speaks about what God says concerning Israel. God said,“ All day long I have held out my hands. I have held them out to a stubborn people who do not obey me.”( Isaiah 65:2)

But of Israel he says,“ All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”

But regarding Israel, God said,“ All day long I opened my arms to them, but they were disobedient and rebellious.”

But to Israel he says, All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and defiant people.

But as for Israel, He says,“ I have spread out My hands all day long to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

But to Israel he says:“ All day long I have stretched out My hands To a disobedient and contrary people.”

But as to Israel he saith, All the day long did I spread out my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

But to Israel he says: All day long I have spread out My hands to a disobedient and defiant people.

But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

But about Israel he says,“ All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”

I spread out my hands all day long to my rebellious people, who lived in a way that is morally unacceptable, and who did what they desired.These people continually and blatantly offend me as they sacrifice in their sacred orchards and burn incense on brick altars.They sit among the tombs and keep watch all night long. They eat pork, and broth from unclean sacrificial meat is in their pans.They say,‘ Keep to yourself! Don’t get near me, for I am holier than you!’ These people are like smoke in my nostrils, like a fire that keeps burning all day long.

I sent all my servants the prophets to warn you over and over again. They said,“ Every one of you, stop doing the evil things you have been doing and do what is right. Do not pay allegiance to other gods and worship them. Then you can continue to live in this land that I gave to you and your ancestors.” But you did not pay any attention or listen to me.

“ For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.And after agreeing with the workers for the standard wage, he sent them into his vineyard.When it was about nine o’clock in the morning, he went out again and saw others standing around in the marketplace without work.He said to them,‘ You go into the vineyard too, and I will give you whatever is right.’So they went. When he went out again about noon and three o’clock that afternoon, he did the same thing.And about five o’clock that afternoon he went out and found others standing around, and said to them,‘ Why are you standing here all day without work?’They said to him,‘ Because no one hired us.’ He said to them,‘ You go and work in the vineyard too.’When it was evening the owner of the vineyard said to his manager,‘ Call the workers and give the pay starting with the last hired until the first.’When those hired about five o’clock came, each received a full day’s pay.And when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more. But each one also received the standard wage.When they received it, they began to complain against the landowner,saying,‘ These last fellows worked one hour, and you have made them equal to us who bore the hardship and burning heat of the day.’And the landowner replied to one of them,‘ Friend, I am not treating you unfairly. Didn’t you agree with me to work for the standard wage?Take what is yours and go. I want to give to this last man the same as I gave to you.Am I not permitted to do what I want with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because I am generous?’

because they hinder us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. Thus they constantly fill up their measure of sins, but wrath has come upon them completely.

for I know about your rebellion and stubbornness. Indeed, even while I have been living among you to this very day, you have rebelled against the LORD; you will be even more rebellious after my death!

However, because I called but you refused to listen, because I stretched out my hand but no one paid attention,

The LORD said to Samuel,“ Do everything the people request of you. For it is not you that they have rejected, but it is me that they have rejected as their king.Just as they have done from the day that I brought them up from Egypt until this very day, they have rejected me and have served other gods. This is what they are also doing to you.

“ Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a fence around it, dug a pit for its winepress, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to tenant farmers and went on a journey.When the harvest time was near, he sent his slaves to the tenants to collect his portion of the crop.But the tenants seized his slaves, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.Again he sent other slaves, more than the first, and they treated them the same way.Finally he sent his son to them, saying,‘ They will respect my son.’But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves,‘ This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and get his inheritance!’So they seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?”They said to him,“ He will utterly destroy those evil men! Then he will lease the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his portion at the harvest.”Jesus said to them,“ Have you never read in the scriptures:‘ The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?For this reason I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.

Both Paul and Barnabas replied courageously,“ It was necessary to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we are turning to the Gentiles.For this is what the Lord has commanded us:‘ I have appointed you to be a light for the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

“ Nonetheless they grew disobedient and rebelled against you; they disregarded your law. They killed your prophets who had solemnly admonished them in order to cause them to return to you. They committed atrocious blasphemies.

and a stumbling- stone and a rock to trip over. They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.

I sent my servants the prophets to you people over and over again warning you not to do this disgusting thing I hate.But the people of Jerusalem and Judah would not listen or pay any attention. They would not stop the wickedness they were doing nor quit sacrificing to other gods.So my anger and my wrath were poured out and burned like a fire through the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem. That is why they have become the desolate ruins that they are today.’

He sent his slaves to summon those who had been invited to the banquet, but they would not come.Again he sent other slaves, saying,‘ Tell those who have been invited,“ Look! The feast I have prepared for you is ready. My oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.”’But they were indifferent and went away, one to his farm, another to his business.The rest seized his slaves, insolently mistreated them, and killed them.The king was furious! He sent his soldiers, and they put those murderers to death and set their city on fire.

Moreover, he said to me,“ I have taken note of these people; they are a stubborn lot!

“ You stubborn people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, like your ancestors did!Which of the prophets did your ancestors not persecute? They killed those who foretold long ago the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become!

and repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

Over and over again the LORD has sent his servants the prophets to you. But you have not listened or paid attention.

“ For this reason I am sending you prophets and wise men and experts in the law, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town,so that on you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.I tell you the truth, this generation will be held responsible for all these things!“ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it!
