God’s Deliverance of Israel
1When Israel came out of Egypt —
the house of Jacob from a people
who spoke a foreign language Ex 13:3; Ps 81:5 —
2Judah became His sanctuary,
Israel, His dominion. Ex 15:17; Ps 78:68-69
3The sea looked and fled; Ex 14:21; Ps 77:16
the Jordan turned back. Jos 3:13-16
4The mountains skipped like rams,
the hills, like lambs. Ex 19:18; Ps 29:6
5Why was it, sea, that you fled?
Jordan, that you turned back? Hab 3:8
6Mountains, that you skipped like rams?
Hills, like lambs? Hab 3:10
7Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob, Ps 96:9
8who turned the rock into a pool of water,
the flint into a spring of water. Ex 17:6; Nm 20:11; Dt 8:15
