比方說，一個婦人結了婚，只要丈夫還在世，她就受律法的約束要與丈夫在一起。如果丈夫死了，她就脫離了與丈夫的婚姻關係。

因此，上帝配合的，人不可分開。」

人人都要尊重婚姻，不可玷污夫妻關係，因為上帝必審判淫亂和通姦的人。

同樣，作丈夫的也要愛妻子如同愛自己的身體，愛妻子就是愛自己。

我也吩咐那些已婚的人，其實不是我吩咐，而是主吩咐：妻子不可離開丈夫，若是離開了，妻子不可再嫁別人，只能與丈夫復合。丈夫也不可離棄妻子。至於其他的人，主沒有吩咐什麼，但我要說，如果某弟兄的妻子不信主，但樂意和他同住，他就不應離棄妻子。同樣，如果某姊妹的丈夫不信主，但樂意和她同住，她就不應離棄丈夫。因為不信的丈夫因妻子而得以聖潔了。同樣，不信的妻子也因丈夫而得以聖潔了。否則你們的孩子就是不潔淨的，但如今他們是聖潔的。

她撇棄了年輕時的丈夫，忘了在上帝面前立的約。

你們還問為什麼。因為耶和華在你和你的髮妻中間作證，她是你的配偶，是你盟約的妻子，你卻對她不忠。
